The time has come to say goodbye to our house on wheels. We have fully lived in it for 6 months during the winter season in Queenstown, and we would definitely do it again! While everyone in the city was complaining about no accommodations being available, we stayed warm and stress-free in our beloved Bongo. We traveled all the way through North&South Islands, through all sorts of roads. On and off-road fields. There aren't many spots that this van hasn't seen!
We put a lot of thought and effort into making it as homely and practical as possible. It's longer than most vans on the market, and with the right adjustments, we made it quite spacious. It's fully furnished; all doors and drawers are lockable, so you won't need to worry about your things moving around while you are on the road.
The van was completely gutted, including the engine, that went too!! Out with the old, in with the new...
Custom made interior. The bed has been purposley made low, making it possible to sit comfortably for a person up to ~175 cm height. Underneath the bed, you will find a series of drawers with depths of 70cm, 1.2m and 2m!! which provide heaps of hidden storage. The carpet floor makes it cozy and keeps your feet warm in the cold days! The sink, which isunderneath the unit with the attachment for hose to clip on to, to drain the water outside while washing your dishes.
As we did the van for ourselves with the idea of keeping it for the foreseeable future, we just remade all the furniture by hand, making it look more tidy and even more comfortable to travel&live in. Unexpectedly, we have to leave and can't tell when we are coming back; therefore, we decided to sell it rather than store it for who knows how long. You would be the first homeowner(s)! The cozy, custom fit is perfect for a couple!!
We bought the van a year ago, but unfortunately, after owning it for a couple of months, the engine blew due to a crack in a head gasket. We made the decision to make it our little project instead of damping it to eternal sleep land. After a long search, we found an engine that has only 75k km on it. Which has also just been installed and tested multiple times to make sure it's all in perfect order and ready to drive away. The new engine comes with a warranty, you will see further details in all of the paper work that comes with the van regarding the work that has been done. The company and mechanics who worked on installing the new engine and various aspects of the work are more than happy to answer any questions.
