Hi ! After 4 months of traveling on the North and South Islands, we have to sell our 2001 Nissan Elgrand, 4x4 option, gasoline van, Self contained until 2026.
Rego: June 2023
Wof: September 2023
Self contained: 12th of october 2026 🚽
Pros :
- 4x4, very easy to use, got us out of a lot of trouble and allowed us to explore beautiful wild roads 🌄
- Automatic, so much easier especially when you\\\\\\\'re not used to driving big vans, easy in the mountains 🏔️
- Extra battery (see photo), allows you to have an electric cooler and recharge all the electronics 🔋
- Functional air conditioning and heating
- Functional car radio for plugging in any type of music
- DVD player (we never understood why)
- Electric front windows
- Cigarette lighter charger with two USB ports
- Comfortable bed with real slats + a second comfort layer in addition to the mattress 🛏️ easily unfoldable even with the van closed
- Kitchen with sink and manual pump tap in the trunk BUT possibility of eating inside without difficulty by turning the cooking gas stove 🍴😋 the gas bottle and storage can be reached from the inside too. We went through a storm, a cyclone and the beginning of winter so we ate inside regularly.
- 2 bottle of 25 L clean water 25 L dirty water
- Folding tablet inside
- Ball at the back (to tow a trailer or other vans in difficulty because you have 4x4 💪🏻)
- Enough space in the back to store your surfboard (or ski)
- 2 keys
- It works really well, we drove 13000 km with it without any problem 💪
Oil and filter changed on 04/21/2023
Front tires changed in January 2023
New radiator in november 2022
24**** km
Equipment:
- Camping kit: a table and two foldable chairs
- All the kitchen stuff for 2 people: 2 plates, 2 sets of cutlery, 2 glasses, 2 cups, kitchen utensils, a saucepan, a frying pan, a salad bowl, a cutting board, a kettle, a coffee maker ☕️ , tea towels, a trash can
- A two-burner gas camping stove with its gas bottle
- An electric cooler
- 5 storage boxes in the front 🗄️ + 2 boxes in the back
- Sleeping kit for 2 people: 2 pillows, a duvet, a plaid, a hot water bottle (we can say that we are good) 🌡️🔥, two sets of sheets / houses / pillowcases, an additional pillow
- A light garland ✨
- A lamp
- 2 towels
- Chemical toilets never used
- A 4-socket power strip with a European adapter
- \\\\\\\"Mechanical kit\\\\\\\": engine oil with rag and funnel, WD40 lubricant, tape, rope, tensioner...
- A Lonely Planet New Zealand guide in English, 2022/2023 edition
Cons :
- Some body bruises, witnesses of the 22 years of busy life of this old lady 👵🏻
- Superficial traces of rust as with most vans over 20 years old
- Little tips to know about the key that you will be shown during the visit
- Small impact on the windshield for more than 6 months. We bought the van with it and it never moved despite the hard paths and the temperature differences. In addition, it has been already checked OK at the WOF because it is not in the driver\\\\\\\'s field of vision.
Price $8,500 (bought for $12,500 in January)
